Sean Kingston announces Lilongwe tour

US singer and rapper Sean Kingston, born Kisean Anderson, is scheduled to perform in southern Africa next year and the tour will take him to Malawi.
Sean Kingston’s official website indicates that the 20-year-old Beautiful Girls star will be performing in Malawi at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on 25th April, 2011 two days after his scheduled concert in Harare, Zimbabwe. He  has alsoused YouTube to announce the planned tour.
The news comes at a time when Malawians are still disappointed following the failed concert by Jamaica-born dancehall icon Sean Paul.
The Temperature star was allegedly supposed to perform at the same venue on December 18 but it was reported that he was not coming as he was currently busy in the studios working on his next album.
Born in Miami in the United States, Kingston spent part of his childhood in Jamaica but returned to the U.S. to pursue a music career and debuted in 2007 as Sean Kingston.
Under Epic Records and Koch Records, Kingston recorded and released the hit single Beautiful Girls that reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and topped the UK Singles Chart along with many other international artists.
The hefty star, who has shared the stage with Beyonce and Gwen Stefani, has gone on to release more hugely-successful hits likeMe LoveFire Burning and Face Drop.
 He has worked with big-name producers such as Wyclef Jean, RedOne and J.R. Rotem.

Lilongwe musicians team up for Christmas charity



It is that time again for giving, receiving and sharing. It is the festive season, the time Christians celebrate the birth of their saviour Jesus Christ, and the time when the world as a whole celebrates the dawn of a new year.
Expressing their heart of giving and sharing, urban musicians in the capital city Lilongwe have organised a music show whose aim is to raise money that will benefit needy children at Kamuzu Central Hospital’s pediatric ward.
As it is called ‘Faith of the Speakers- Fundraising Urban Music Show’, through the music event scheduled to take place at Lilongwe Town Hall this Friday, the artists will be generating funds they will use to cheer the sick children on Christmas day.
As he discloses his passionate about being a positive influence in the community, Phyzix aka Gamba of ‘Cholapitsa’ fame, one of capital city and the country’s hip-hop icons, calls for “every human being’s support” towards the sick children at the central hospital in the central region.
Phyzix, who resides in the same neighbourhood with Lilia, Area 25, promises a grand performance on Friday afternoon.
Among other acts, there will be Anne Matumbi, X-Movement, Riandy, H-Spade, Lilia, Blasto, Pittie Boiz, Thange, Black Agon and Mady P.—(Reporting by Kimpho Loka, Nyasa Times)

Biriwiri changing face of Malawian hip-hop


One of the country’s hip-hop outfits Biriwiri say their new CD titled ‘Umayitha’ to be launch this weekend is a milestone and will transform Malawi’s hip-hop industry.
“Umayitha is definitely going to woo more fans as it has topics that Malawians can easily relate to and understand,” points out Kabuzi.
